Govt awaits 800 test results

SHILLONG: The state government is awaiting the test results of 800 samples.
Informing that 14147 samples have been sent out of which 13303 were negative, Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek said the results of 800 samples are awaited.
During the daily news briefing on Monday, Hek said Meghalaya as on Monday had only 17 active cases while 26 patients have recovered.
As far as the testing capacity of samples is concerned, the Health minister said the state government is currently conducting tests for COVID-19 in NEIGRIHMS and Tura Civil Hospital.
He also informed that another testing centre at Pasteur Institute would be inaugurated next week and the government would be able to conduct 40-50 tests within 8 hours.
As of now, NEIGRIHMS is testing as many as 600 samples in a day while Tura Civil Hospital tests 250 samples.
Reacting to a query, Hek said the department so far has not conducted the test on the new born baby of the pregnant woman who was tested positive for the virus.
