SHILLONG: A resident of Assam who is an employee of the State Bank of India, Khanapara branch, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek informed on Tuesday that the Government of Meghalaya has closed the branch.
The Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner said that customers of Khanapara branch can approach Jorabat SBI branch for any urgent banking purpose.
“The person who was found positive is under quarantine in Assam but the bank is in Meghalaya,” Hek said while informing that the state government has already started contact tracing of the positive patient.
The deputy commissioner said that those who had visited the bank from June 5 to 18 should go for home quarantine for 14 days.
The patient is currently under the care of the Assam Government.
Meanwhile, Hek also informed that the total number of active cases in the state has come down to four after four patients in West Jaintia Hills were declared as recovered from the virus.
As of now 41 patients have recovered in the state out of a total of 46 cases.
The state government has, so far, sent 16,931 samples for testing out of which 16,585 have tested negative while results of 300 tests are awaited.
