SHILLONG: With the easing of COVID-10-induced lockdown, the government has directed Aadhaar Enrolment Centres to follow a slew of protocols to avert any possible surge in COVID-19 cases in the state.
A statement issued on Friday said that the authorities are to screen the applicants with thermal scanners and if any staff or applicant already has any symptom of fever, the government has advised them to keep themselves away from the centres.
“Aadhaar Kendra premises should be cleaned thoroughly before and after business hours. All devices shall be sanitised after every use. The frequently touched areas like the door knobs and handles, chair handles, etc., should be cleaned after every two hours. The Aadhaar enrolment should be done in a well-ventilated and spacious room,” the statement read.
The only time applicants will be allowed to remove the mask is during the capturing of image, the statement said, adding that hand sanitisers are to be used, before and after registering biometrics.
The staff of the Aadhaar Kendra have also been directed to adhere to the same protocols like the applicants.
However, in addition, they have been directed to clean the biometric devices after every enrolment by using a lint-free cloth with rubbing alcohol.
The Aadhaar Kendra management has also been directed to ensure that there is no violation of social distancing.
“Walk-in applicants without appointment should not be allowed in Aadhaar Kendra offering online appointments to avoid overcrowding,” the statement read.
The government has also directed enrolment centres to display health advisory for applicants.
The government has further barred staff of Aadhaar Kendra from travelling to hotspots, if any.
“Aadhaar Kendra management should advise applicants from COVID-19 hotspots to avoid coming to Aadhaar Kendra,” the statement added.
The government has also prohibited consumption of any tobacco product in and around the enrolment centre.
