Heavy rain snaps road link

TURA: Garo Hills region is likely to see respite from heavy rains as flood situation grips the plains belt areas with the main road connecting Baghmara to Moheskola in remote south Garo Hills being snapped after a major culvert collapsed on Thursday.
The Executive Engineer of PWD Roads in Baghmara Division has informed in an official communique that due to the collapse of RCC slab culvert No.29/4 at Dilsingre village on Baghmara Moheshkhola Road, portion of the road between Dambuk and Rongara has been temporarily closed for plying of all vehicular traffic with immediate effect until further orders.
Also, damage has occurred on another road linking Wagesik to the Baghmara Block.
The PWD Roads issued another notification informing that because of a flash flood, the road formation at chainage 1985m of 2nd km of Block Development Office to Wagesik road has been totally washed out. Hence, the road portion from RC Compound Junction to Wagesik has been closed for all the vehicular traffic including two-wheelers with immediate effect.
