MLCU, Rotary Club plant saplings in city

SHILLONG: With the objective to build a greener city, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) and Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong (RCOCS) in collaboration with Meghalaya Integrated Mountain Development Initiative (MIMDI) and Rotaract Club of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), organised a tree plantation programme at Umsawli, Mawpat on Wednesday, and Lum Warkhyllew, Umphyrnai on Thursday.
The programme was to commemorate the Tree Plantation Week observed by Rotary Club in the first week of every July.
An MoU was also signed between MLCU and Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong under which their resources will be pooled towards activities and initiatives for the benefit of the community.
The chief guest of the event, Dr K Elangbam, Assistant Governor, Zone X, RI District 3240, during his address in the inaugural session, lauded the initiative of the groups.
Members of MLCU, RCOCS, MIMDI and Rotaract Club, NEHU, participated in the two days of programme which was carried out with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
