SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep National People Federation (HNPF) has condemned the attack on the youths who were playing basketball at Lawsohtun playground.
In a statement issued here, the president of HNPF, Ronnie M Rani, has urged the law enforcement agencies to deal severely with the people who committed the crime.
The HNPF questioned the assaulters as to why the youths cannot be happy and play around.
“If you felt that they can’t play in that basketball ground, you could have just stopped them, and sent them away. Is it right for you to beat up the innocent boys… do you think that this is justice which you have done?” he said.
Rani has also prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
CPC condemnation
The Central Puja Committee (CPC), Meghalaya has also condemned the attack on the youths at Lawsohtun. The CPC urged the state government to ensure focused investigation so that perpetrators of the crime are booked as per provisions of law. It also appealed to all sections of people to maintain peace and harmony.
