SHILLONG: Two persons out of the 41 persons who attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort, Khanapara in Guwahati were tested positive even as the Health Department informed of 44 high risks contacts stressing that the department is tracing out the contacts of the positive patients.
The Director of DHS (MI) Aman Warr said, “There are two positive cases who have attended the wedding ceremony at Greenwood Resort. They are in Civil Hospital now and contact tracing for both of them has been done. The rest are negative and have been put in the quarantine center”.
Earlier, the health officials went to Pynthorbah as there is one positive case. The patient had attended the wedding at Greenwood Resort, Khanapara. The other positive case is from Lachumiere.
From the first positive case, the Health Department has traced 23 high risk cases and samples have been taken and the people are asked to quarantine. From the second positive case from the wedding 21 high-risk contacts have been traced.
Warr warned, “There will be more, there will be so much more. Our team is there on the ground, doing the tracing as of now. Prior to us knowing that there was a wedding, these people have been moving around and that is why we are doing the contact tracing. All the high risk contacts, we have identified and by tomorrow we will know about the position since all reports are awaited”.
There are a total of 52 active cases in the state where 45 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19. All the 52 cases are asymptomatic.
Total number of samples sent for testing is 22, 221 out of which 21, 902 tested negative. The number of returnees to Meghalaya till 2 pm is 20, 693. Out of the active cases, there are 34 in East Khasi Hills (BSF – 26, 2 males in Air Force, others are 6 – 4 males and 2 females), 14 in Ri- Bhoi (8 males and 6 females), East Jaintia Hills – 1male, West Garo Hills is 3 (2 males and 1 female).
