Kolkata: Mohun Bagan fans will not be disappointed by the outcome of the board meeting between the directors of new Indian Super League (ISL) entity ATK Mohun Bagan Private Limited.
According to well placed sources, IANS has learnt that the essence of the century-old club which merged with ISL champions ATK in January, will not be lost and there are chances that the club logo and the iconic green and maroon jersey will not be completely done away with.
The directors of the new board will have their first meeting on Friday with RP-SG chairman Sanjiv Goenka and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly set to be in attendance.
The name of the new club, the logo and jersey colours are expected to be announced after the meeting. “It’s really a tight-lipped affair but what can be said is that Mohun Bagan fans will not be disappointed,” a source close to the development said on the eve of the high profile meeting.
“It looks like the green and maroon colour in the jersey will be kept and the logo of Mohun Bagan won’t be done away with,” the source added. Three-time ISL champions ATK and I-League winners Mohun Bagan joined hands in January this year and the ISL side’s principal owner Goenka has 80 per cent stake in the new entity.
During registration with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs last month, the new franchise named five directors — ATK co-owner Utsav Parekh, Mohun Bagan pair of Srinjoy Bose and Debashish Dutta along with two other members Gautam Ray and Sanjeev Mehra.
It is expected that co-owner Ganguly, a former India cricket captain, and owner Goneka will formally become board members in the meeting. (IANS)
