SHILLONG: The Chairman of the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya and Adviser & Spokesperson, Federation of Khasi States (FKS), John F Kharshiing, has lauded the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) for implementing the Building Bye-Laws.
In a statement on Thursday, Kharshiing, while maintaining that “much work has to be done”, said that the implementation of the building bye-laws is a much-needed progress.
“After 68 years of Autonomous District Councils and 48 years of statehood, today, we finally have a common Building Bye-Law”, the statement said.
As per the recent KHADC session, it was agreed that there will be only one law applied throughout the state called Meghalaya Building Bye-Law 2011 (as amended 2015)
Under this law, option has been given to the citizens to approach MUDA or the KHADC for NOC as per convenience.
