NONGSTOIN: In view of the state witnessing incessant rainfall over the past few weeks, the office of the Executive Engineer (EE) Water Resource organised an awareness campaign on ‘Flood Management Programme on Nonbah-Nondein river’ at St. Peter HS School, Pyndengrei, on Thursday.
In his address, Nongstoin MLA, M Byrsat MLA said that it is necessary to construct a check dam along the river beds in order to minimise floods, which have affected properties as well as crops.
He asked the village leaders to sensitise the locals to donate land so that the project — floods control from Nonbah and Nondein rivers — can be implemented.
