ST editor files FIR against forged letter

SHILLONG: It has been observed that one malicious letter addressed to dignitaries of the Central and state governments, allegedly signed by the Editor-in-Chief of The Shillong Times have been circulated through social media. It is hereby informed that the letter dated March 9, 2020 was not penned by the Editor and a complaint has already been lodged by her at Cyber Crime Police Station.
A criminal case has been registered and investigation of the case is ensuing, a statement issued by the Office of the state Director General of Police said on Thursday.
“Netizens are therefore requested to refrain from circulating the forged letter and anyone found circulating the letter will be liable for criminal action as per law,” the statement said.
