SHILLONG: Police have asked the people to provide information regarding the movement of contrabands so that action can be taken against drug cartels.
The appeal comes after the seizure of ganja by Ri Bhoi police on Friday.
A truck was intercepted by Meghalaya police at Toll Plaza, 20th Mile which was loaded with ganja.
On interrogating the driver, he stated that the consignment was loaded from Agartala and was supposed to be delivered to Poonia, Bihar.
In this connection, a case has been registered under relevant section of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and two persons who were arrested have been sent to judicial custody.
A police statement said that Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) has been setup by Meghalaya Police in all the 11 districts and the public are requested to share inputs on any kind of information pertaining to drugs and psychotropic substances by contacting the ANTF through the state police website under the link https://megpolice.gov.in/anti-narcotic-task-force.
