Two more die of COVID in Meghalaya, death toll up to 4

SHILLONG: Number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Meghalaya has gone up to four following the demise of two patients in NEIGRIHMS on Saturday and Sunday.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, DHS (MI), Aman War said that the two deceased included a Kolkata returnee, Banteilang Rapthap Syngai (40) and a BSF Jawan Nandeshwar Deuri (48).

Thirty-two new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the state till 2 PM on Sunday including 31 in East Khasi Hills district (BSF-29 and 2 others) and one in Ri Bhoi district.

Total active cases in the state is 397 — East Khasi Hills-343 (BSF – 268, others-61, Armed forces-14), Ri Bhoi- 36, East Jaintia Hills – 2, West Garo Hills – 11, South West Garo Hills-1, South Garo Hills-2, East Garo Hills-1, North Garo Hills-1,

Number of patients who have recovered in the state so far is 49.
