Two more die of COVID-19 in Assam ,toll mounts to 88

GUWAHATI: Two more persons died of COVID-19 in Assam on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Dulu Rani Sarkar (70) and Hemanta Buragohain (50) from Kamrup Metro.  The death toll in the state has increased to 88.

Both the patients were admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, Two more #COVID19 patients, Smt Dulu Rani Sarkar (70) and Sri Hemanta Buragohain (50), have succumbed to their infections today. They both were from Kamrup Metro and admitted at GMCH, Guwahati. My prayers & condolences to their bereaved families.”

Meanwhile, 1371 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam out of 22876 tests done in last 24 hours. Positivity rate continues to be low at 5.9%. Maximum number of 295 cases were in Kamrup Metropolitan district followed by 211 cases in Kamrup district.

On the other hand, 1216 patients were discharged today from various COVID hospital after their recovery.
