COVID patient gives birth to healthy twins

JOWAI: A woman in West Jaintia Hills, who is infected with COVID-19, has given birth to healthy twins at Jowai Civil Hospital, according to officials. The newborns will be tested for COVID-19.
The woman was admitted in the hospital on Sunday and she delivered the baby later that day.
The test result of the woman arrived on Tuesday, following which, all the newborns and their mothers were shifted to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Hospital in Jowai. As per the protocols, all of them will be tested for COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the Jowai Civil Hospital Superintendent, R Pohrmen, informed that outpatient department will remain closed while indoor services will continue.
The hospital superintendent further informed that that the doctors and staff, who were involved in the delivery of the twins, have been made to go under quarantine.
