SHILLONG: Joining the chorus in pinpointing the mismanagement of the COVID-19 situation by the state government, Congress MLA Zenith M Sangma has asked the government to ensure that the residents in containment zones get proper food and other essential commodities.
Calling the government “insensitive”, the Sangma said that the containment zones were declared without any preparedness.
The MLA rued that the voice of the Opposition, even if it was pointing towards the betterment of the people in these trying times, is considered as playing politics. This is the problem, he added.
Lauding the voluntary actions of the Rangbah Shnong in the Shillong agglomeration, Sangma said, “We are lucky that they (Rangbah Shnong) are working day and night supporting the government”.
Continuing to come down hard on the government, Sangma said that decisions are taken without consulting the local authorities.
“Due to lack of coordination, everything is not in right direction,” he added.
