SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Friday directed wholesale shops, both essential and non essential, operating from fixed premises in areas falling under Jeep Stand, Garikhana, Paltan Bazaar and areas from Anjalee Point to Mawlonghat to open from 8 am to 8 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, they have been directed to open exclusively for doorstep delivery to their retailers.
According to the DC, the magistrates in-charge and the district police will regulate the operation of the wholesale traders and will ensure due public compliance to the advisories of government.

“In addition, the Deputy Commissioner has requested the public to strictly maintain social distancing of at least six feet, not to overcrowd in one area, and not to spit in public places and cooperate with management made by the district administration and district police,” a statement said on Friday.
The DC has also warned that failing to wear mask will entail action of closure of the shops concerned.
