Meghalaya to celebrate I-Day in a subdued manner

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya Cabinet today decided that the forthcoming Independence Day programme across Meghalaya would be organised in a token manner in view of COVID-19 pandemic.

The state-level function of Independence Day at the State Capital Shillong will comprise of unfurling of the Tricolour and a speech the Chief Minister while concerned district-level officials will hoist the National Flag at district and sub-division levl.

“Cabinet has decided that the programmes for the Independence Day 2020 will be kept to bare minimum. Programmes in the State Capital will include flag hoisting and speech by the CM while at the District and Sub-divisional level, District officials will unfurl the tricolour,” tweeted the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma
