TURA: The total number of active cases in West Garo Hills went up to 65 on Sunday with four BSF personnel testing positive for the virus, following which the three BSF campuses in Tura have been declared as containment zones.
According to a tweet by West Garo Hills DC Ram Singh, of the 65 positive patients, one is being treated at the Tura Civil Hospital, 48 at the corona care centre and 16 at the BSF quarantine centre of the BSF.
The DC also informed that five patients recovered on Sunday bringing the total of recovered cases in the district to 33. Out of the total of 33 recoveries, 29 were asymptomatic cases while four others were with co-morbid conditions, he added.
When contacted, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War confirmed the numbers in West Garo Hills and informed that the figures will be updated on Monday morning when the list is announced at 10 am.
Containment zones
The DC further informed that three BSF campuses in Tura were declared as containment zones on Sunday.
“We are receiving quite a lot of cases, so it was necessary to keep the campuses under containment. We have to do the contact tracing first and after it is finalised we will see what can be done”, Singh said.
The three BSF campuses are Prahari Nagar, Danakgre and Dobasipara.
On the other hand, Singh said that he has received complaints that BSF personnel were roaming freely in the market places. “The BSF personnel will also comply with the protocol”, he said, while adding that a COVID-19 centre has been created within the premises.
