SWKH reports first case

Mawkyrwat: South West Khasi Hills on Monday recorded its first positive case of COVID-19.
Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo informed that the person tested positive is a returnee from Gujarat, who reached South West Khasi Hills District on August 5 via the Byrnihat checkpoint after completing all protocols of the Health department.
Thereafter, he proceeded to his village in South West Khasi Hills for home quarantine.
On August 7, the person developed mild symptoms and was immediately shifted to the corona care centre in Mawkyrwat and the next day his sample was taken for RT-PCR. The report which came out on Monday was positive.
“The person’s condition is stable at present and he will continue to remain at the corona care centre for the time being,” Laloo added.
