State’s COVID situation sees improvement

SHILLONG: The COVID-19 situation in the state saw a slight improvement with only 14 cases being reported on Wednesday even as 30 patients were declared recovered on the day.
11 cases were detected in East Khasi Hills, two in West Garo Hills and one in North Garo Hills on the day.
Those who tested positive in East Khasi Hills included two returnees, two patients with Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI), two contacts of a positive patient, a staff nurse of NEIGRIHMS, one contact of a positive person from Assam and three armed forces personnel.
A person from Shillong was tested positive in North Garo Hills while an Assam returnee and a shopkeeper tested positive in West Garo Hills.
20 patients including 11 BSF personnel, 3 armed forces personnel and eight others recovered in East Khasi Hills while three armed forces personnel and seven others recovered in Ri Bhoi.
The total number of active cases in the state stood at 640 of which 436 are in East Khasi Hills (BSF-86, Armed Forces-72 and others-278).
West Garo Hills has 84 active cases while Ri Bhoi has 83. There are 16 active cases in West Jaintia Hills and six each in East Jaintia Hills and North Garo Hills. South Garo Hills and North Garo Hills have three cases each while South West Garo Hills has two active cases. There is one active case in South West Khasi Hills.
547 persons have recovered from COVID-19 in the state so far.
