MPCC call to safeguard history

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 74th Independence Day on Saturday at Congress Bhawan, Thana Road, Shillong.
During the programme, James S Lyngdoh, working president, unfurled the tricolor in front of the party members. Social distancing protocols were also adhered to during the programme.
In his address Lyngdoh highlighted the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sundal Bhulan Bhai Patel among others.
Urging the members to read about India’s freedom struggle, he exhorted them to oppose any attempt of removing the names of ‘TRUE FREEDOM FIGHTER’ from the pages of history.
The District and Block Congress Committee together with Party MP, MLAs, MDCs, ex-MLAs, ex-MDCs and the leaders of the frontal organisation observed the Day in different parts of the state.
