SHILLONG: North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum has petitioned the Managing Director of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) urging the official to create a dedicated web portal for catering specifically towards the defunct streetlights in the state.
Taking cognizance of the inoperative streetlights in the constituency, the MLA advised the MeECL to dedicate a toll free helpline which would help in making immediate rectifications.
The MLA is also of the view that metering of streetlights would help in unnecessary wastage of power and help in detecting power theft.
He has also asked the Corporation to ensure the maintenance of inventory so that materials do not run out of stock.
