Classes in AIIMS  to begin from Nov 1: Himanta

GUWAHATI:  The academic courses at AIIM, Changsari will begin from November 1 this year while treatment will begin from next year.

This was informed by Assam Health Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at the function held in Guwahati Medical College Auditorium here for distribution of appointment letters to 201 staff nurses of Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH)and 157 doctors for rural service at a programme held at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) auditorium here.

Dr Sarma further said “This year we have completed two medical colleges-Lakhimpur and Diphu. We are completing two other medical colleges next year at—Dhubri and Nagaon. On the other hand, 70 per cent works of Nalbari Medical College and 60 per cent works of Tinsukia Medical College have already been done.”

He also stated the Assam government will set up four new medical colleges at Biswanath, Charaideo, Goalapara and Karimganj. The government is also planning to establish another new medical college in Guwahati.
