Police register murder case over mysterious death

SHILLONG: Police have registered a murder case regarding the recovery of body of the 60-year-old woman, Lucky Marbaniang from Laban.
Marbaniang went missing from home in the wee hours of July 11. Her torso with the head and arms was found on July 13 at Umiam lake near Mawdun village, Ri Bhoi and five days later, police found one leg from the same area.
One more leg was recovered later.
Though the police had earlier suspected it as a suicide case, after the examination of post mortem report, it was found to be a murder case.
A senior police official said on Thursday that a murder case was registered. “The police headquarters are monitoring the investigation”, the official said.
He added that the details cannot be divulged now.
