SHILLONG: Two COVID-recovered BSF constables, PP Saikia and MD Rasidul Karim of 97 battalion, frontier head quarters, BSF Meghalaya, have donated their convalescent plasma on Thursday at GMC Hospital Guwahati, Assam.
They are on temporary duty in Assam.
BSF PRO, DIG UK Nayal said on Friday that more than 200 personnel are ready and will donate plasma as and when they receive a call from NEIGRIHMS or the state Health department.
In a statement on Friday, the BSF said that COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of this time and it is the greatest challenge the BSF is also facing currently.
“Since its emergence, the BSF was also not left untouched by the virus.  However, with the spirit of serving the nation and humanity, the BSF undertook a drive to motivate its personnel recovered from COVID-19 disease to donate their plasma”, the BSF added.
