WKH clinic shut after COVID patient’s visit

NONGSTOIN/JOWAI: The District Magistrate of West Khasi Hills, in an order on Sunday, has shut down the clinic of Dr A Pariong at New Nongstoin till September 15 or further depending on the situation.
The order was issued in view of the visit by a COVID-19-infected patient, who passed away, to Dr Pariong’s clinic for check-up.
Speaking to pressmen here, T Lyngwa, Deputy Commissioner of West Khasi Hills, informed that the Health department has started contact tracing and urged those who went for medical check-up to the clinic on September 3 to register themselves or get tested for COVID-19 at Civil Hospital, Nongstoin.
Dr B Nongkhlaw, in-charge of Markasa PHC, said that so far 45 people including the victim’s relatives and close contacts were tested and found negative.
The DC said the family members of the COVID-19 victim at Ksehkohlong village will be quarantined as per protocol and the containment zone at Ksehkohlong village will be lifted after the completion of contact tracing.
Containment orders in WJH
The District Magistrate of West Jainta Hills, has declared Dowell Petrol Pump, Rait Ladthadlaboh, Jowai, and the entire building of Harbiancy Lamar, KNB Road, Iawmusiang, as containment area. The order will remain in effect till 5 am of September 9.
