SHILLONG: At a time when the State BJP has decided to put “pressure” on the state government to bring trains carrying goods to the capital city, the United Democratic Party (UDP) has made it clear that the party was not in favour of connecting Shillong with railways.
“We are against introduction of goods as well as passenger trains till Shillong,” UDP President, Metbah Lyngdoh said on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned that pressure groups in the state have been opposing railways stating that it would lead to influx into the state.
