Mairang gets farming scheme

SHILLONG: A scheme of Rs Rs 4.36 crore to promote piggery farming in Mairang and to benefit the unemployed youth in the villages was sanctioned by the MLA of the constituency Metbah Lyngdoh.
The land for piggery farm which covers a total area of 5 acre has also been acquired in Mawsawa.
The scheme, which is funded by the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries, will be under the lookout of the State Veterinary Department.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Lyngdoh observed that the scheme will benefit many youth who are facing rural unemployment that has been plaguing the state even before the pandemic struck and took a turn for the worse during the pandemic.
On the same day, he also inspected the Aqua Park at Nongrangoi which is a project of the Fisheries department and the veterinary dispensary at Dongki-ingding.
He also checked on the construction of the footpath at Lyngwa market, he paid a visit to the project of the Tourism Department in Nongkhlaw village.
