MLA for ‘responsible’ MPSC chairman

SHILLONG: KHNAM MLA, Adelbert Nongrum, has asked the state government to ensure that it appoints an honest and responsible person as the new chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC).
Nongrum said the government must keep in mind several factors before appointing the new chairman as many cases are already pending against the MPSC in the in the High Court while there are instances when its take the Commission 5 to 10 years for conducting an examination after publishing advertisements.
He also suggested that the state government should video-record the entire interview process, thereby bringing transparency and accountability in the MPSC. “We request the government to appoint for the post a person who has the qualities of being visionary, innovative and honest, and should be free from any outside interference so as to bring efficiency in the Commission,” he said.
