MLA overseeing relief to people

NONGSTOIN: Relief materials to victims of flash floods and landslide, which had occurred in the area on September 25, were distributed by MLA of Nongstoin, Macmillan Byrsat, on Saturday.
Byrsat had been touring the affected areas since the day of the incident, in which five houses were completely damaged.
The damaged houses belonged to Balahunshisha Kharpor of Upper New Nongstoin, Joyfulness Marwein, Basuklang Rynshiang and Phaslanding Lyngkhoi of Nongstoin village, and Miktilda Nonglang ofn Ksehkohlong village.
The MLA had provided emergency relief to the affected people from his own personal funds on the day of the incident, while the next day, he again distributed relief to help the victims start repairing their houses.
On September 25 and 26, the MLA also carried out inspection of all the families affected by flash floods in Upper New Nongstoin and Tiehsaw village. At least 50 families in Upper New Nongstoin and 30 in Tiehsaw village were affected.
Relief materials like rice, other essential commodities and blankets were distributed to all the affected families with the help of NPP party workers.
Byrsat, speaking to reporters here, said the list of affected people has been sent directly to the Revenue Minister to speed-up grant of relief from the state government.
Meanwhile, in New Nongstoin, survey of people residing near Nonbah river who were hit by the flash floods is still going on and relief will be distributed soon.
