SHILLONG: The Lympung ki Hynriew Shnong, a conglomerate of six Dorbar Shnong, on Monday, met East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo to express their concerns about the inability of many people in the city to isolate COVID patients at home.
The Lympung ki Hynriew Shnong comprised Mawkhar, Wahingdoh, Riatsamthiah, Umsohsun, Mission Compound and Wahthapbroo Dorbars.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting with the DC, Rangbah Shnong of Umsohsun village and president of the conglomerate, Paul Sawian, said they apprised the DC of the difficulties in keeping a COVID-19 positive patient at home.
“During the deliberations, the DC told us that considering the spike in COVID-19 cases, a time may come when hospitals and Corona Care Centres would not be able to accommodate all the positive patients. She suggested that they can hold discussions with the house owners about making arrangements to treat the patient at home,” Sawian said.
The delegation did not make commitment with regard to the matter as members of the respective Dorbar Shnong have to be consulted before a decision is taken.
