Int’l Day for Older Persons celebrated

NONGPOH: The Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi, on Thursday celebrated the International Day for Older Persons at Shantivan, Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre, Nongpoh.
The programme, which was thematised on ‘Pandemics: Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing’, was attended by more than 40 inmates of Shantivan, Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre.
MLA of Nongpoh Constituency, Mayralborn Syiem, attended the programme as the chief guest among other officials.
Syiem, in his speech, recalled the contribution and services rendered by Mother Theresa, her vision, mission and hard work.
He also expressed his gratitude to the sisters of Shantivan for their services to the poor and aged persons.
During the programme, online singing competition and distribution of gifts among the inmates were also held.
