SHILLONG: The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Shillong, in collaboration with Metallica-Sargam Sports & Cultural Club (MSSCC), Shillong, on Saturday observed the Rajbhasa Sammelan during a virtual meet.
The programme, which was attended by 14 participants, zeroed in on the significance of the Hindi language.
Competitions like singing and Hindi recitation were organised during the virtual meet.
Guest lecturer in Hindi from Lady Keane College, Chinmoy Deka, speaking at the event, emphasised the need to learn Hindi for higher education and job prospects.
The programme, which was organised by president MSSCC, Dipankar Nandi, also witnessed participation from various scholars.
Baida Saikh, a Hindi scholar, during the programme, called upon the youths to feel prouder in speaking in Hindi rather than in English.
