SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna arrested in Assam police recruitment exam scam

GUWAHATI:  The CID of Assam Police tonight arrested Superintendent of Police (SP), FRRO, Barpeta, Kumar Sanjit Krishna, for his involvement in the state police SI recruitment examination scam. He will be produced in the court tomorrow, according to a communique from the Police Headquarter here.

The senior police officer who has been suspected to be in collusion with the gang that masterminded leak of police SI recruitment examination question paper, had appeared at Assam Police Headquarter in Ulubari here after he had remained untraced since Tuesday.

He was arrested following his interrogation and taken to Mohendra Mohan Choudhury Civil Hospital (MMCH) here for medical examination and COVID test.

Sanjit Krishna had been allegedly absconding since Tuesday after he was interrogated by CID for his alleged connection in the cash-for-jobs scam.

The state home department had earlier given its consent to CID, Assam to initiate proceedings for the arrest of SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna and additional SP, Karimganj, Prasanta Dutta for their involvement in recruitment examination scam that has embarrassed the BJP-led government in the state.

Both these police officials allegedly colluded with other prime accused in the scam including former DIG of Assam Police, P K Dutta, expelled BJP leader Dibon Deka, Rubul Hazarika alias Rubul Ali of Akshay Telecommunication of Bongaigan.

It may be noted that Sanjit Krishna was SP of Bongaigaon before he was transferred to Karimganj.

The sleuths of the CID had conducted raids at Sanjit Krishna’s residence at Kachari Basti here and ASP Dutta’s house at Six Mile in Guwahati on Wednesday in connection with the case.

Sanjit Krishna, was transferred as the SP of Barpeta Foreigner Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) from Karimganj in a reshuffle within the police administration on October 11.
