SHILLONG: The two-day chaotic scene outside the Shillong GPO has now drawn the HYC’s ire, with the latter demanding the removal of Vice-Chancellor, SK Srivastava.
In a statement, the HYC, NEHU unit, asserted that Srivastava has failed to follow COVID protocols and subjected students to undue harassment within examination schedule.
The HYC said that Srivastava should accept moral responsibility and resign, and if he does not do so, the authorities should ensure his defenestration.
The Council said that it is very unfortunate to see a plethora of final-year NEHU examinees queue outside the GPO, especially at a time when COVID cases are on the surge.
“Who really took such a decision? What is the role of VC and PVC in taking such an action needs to be investigated to establish accountability? Such an order resulted in gross violation of COVID protocols and now VC and PVC are covering it up by hiding behind Controller of Examinations. Indeed, the Controller could not show the spine to stand up to wrong instructions of VC and PVC,” the HYC said.
The HYC also said that NEHU should follow directives issued from the DC immediately.
