Man dies, relatives suspect murder
NONGSTOIN: A death of a person in West Khasi Hills has now been presumed as a homicide, with the relatives of the deceased suspecting the friends to be the perpetrators. It was informed on Friday that one person was suspected to have been murdered by his friends on October 12 at Mawthukrah in Tynghor, West Khasi Hills.
Police said that on October 15, one Shanbor Syiem of Nongpdeng-J filed a complaint that Joplang Syiem, the deceased, on October 12 had left home with his friends for Mawthukrah, never to return. However, the next day, he was brought unconscious by his friends to his wife’s residence. The unconscious Syiem, however, passed away on October 14. The relatives, after seeing the body, have suspected a murder angle perpetrated by his friends.

Robbery bid fails
NONGSTOIN: Unknown miscreants attempted to commit robbery at ATM, Punjab National Bank, Mairang, but without success. According to the complaint filed by Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank, Mairang, the miscreants broke the shatter door and also damaged the ATM machine. However, they were not able to break the vault inside the ATM machine. The police have registered the case where inquiry into the matter is on.
