SHILLONG: IPR Minister James Sangma has said that the metamorphosis of social media has brought about new challenges as well as opportunities and that the department of DIPR has been keeping the people updated from time to time, especially with the help of Facebook now.
Speaking at the inauguration of the DIPR office building on Thursday, James said, “With time, we can also think of venturing into other social media platforms in order to ensure wider reach of important information from the government to the people”.
Stating that the DIPR plays an imperative role in highlighting all the different schemes initiated and implemented by the government, James said the information pertaining to the schemes will be made accessible to the citizens through various mediums.
He added that to supplement the traditional forms of information dissemination, the department has ventured into the arena of social media by posting important government information on an everyday basis on its official Facebook page, DIPR Meghalaya.
