TURA: The GSMC from Pedaldoba in West Garo Hills has urged Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh to look into the repair of the Pedaldoba to Rabugong Bazaar Road under Raksamgre Civil Sub-Division, which was damaged during the devastating floods of 2014.
According to the Committee, an amount of Rs 94 lakh was sanctioned for its repair in the year 2017-18 and the time given for its completion was nine months. However, the Committee said although it has been over two years since the repair work was sanctioned, the work is yet to be completed.
“It appears that the contractor concerned is not interested to complete the work. Due to the incomplete road, people from the area including office-goers, school students and those needing urgent medical attention are facing immense hardships,” Committee chairman from Pedaldoba, Rimjen Ch Sangma, said.
Pointing out that the road is of utmost importance to the people of the area, the Committee has also exhorted the deputy commissioner to take necessary measures and ensure that the road repair gets completed at the earliest.
