SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday said the concept of the mini secretariat is to ensure efficiency in the delivery of services to the people.
Conrad said this during his visit to the proposed site for the mini secretariat at Ladthadlaboh in Jowai.
The chief minister, during the inspection, was accompanied by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, local MLA Wailadmiki Shylla and other senior officials.
“The endeavour of the government has always been to improve the overall governance in the state. Having a mini secretariat will ensure that the citizens of the district can avail all the services from one location since all the departments will be located under one roof. We strongly feel that this particular decision to set up mini secretariats will go a long way in improving the overall governance in the district and the delivery of the services at the grassroots level,” the said.
Conrad further asserted that the proposed site has sufficient space and is well connected.
“So, therefore, this seems to be a very appropriate location and we will now start to work at the earliest to ensure that this project is initiated and is completed at the earliest,” he added.
