Free health camp for locals, BSF personnel

SHILLONG, Nov 28: The Border Security Force (BSF) Shillong, as part of its Raising Day, organised a free medical health camp under Civic Action Programme on Friday in the city.
According to a statement, during the health camp, which was held at Lal Ground, Mawpat, spectacles and wheelchairs were distributed to the needy personnel of Nongmensong and Mawpat area.
A special team comprising doctors, consultants and nurses from BSF and Civil Hospital also conducted free consultations and check-ups for all the attendees.
“In addition to this, free blood pressure check-up, blood sugar check-up, BMI check-up were done on the visitors to create awareness about diabetes and hypertension which is one of the most worrisome health issues prevalent in this region. The visitors were also given free medicines,” the statement said.
According to the BSF, locals from Nongmynsong, Mawpat and neighboring areas had benefited from the camp.
