Coal trucks detected
On November 30, police intercepted a coal-laden 12-wheeler truck (AS-01-FC-7779) near Step-by-Step School, Barik. The truck was reportedly proceeding from Sookilo in East Jaintia Hills towards Beltola, Guwahati, Assam. Police apprehended the driver and the handyman (names not furnished) and seized one original Mineral Transport Challan bearing the seal ‘Auction Coal M/s GS Marak Coal Syndicate and Automobiles, East Garo Hills’.
On November 29, police seized one truck (ML-05R-9559) driven by Roybok Rymbai for illegally transporting coal without valid documents at Lad Smit.
68 Phensydil bottles seized
Company Commander, E-Coy, 123 Bn BSF, Nongjri BOP in East Khasi Hills, lodged a complaint that on November 27, around 8.30 pm, BSF personnel, while on duty in the general area of BP No 1255/2-S under Teka BOP, detected two miscreants with consignment reportedly to be smuggled into Bangladesh. When the security personnel asked the miscreants to stop, they fled into a nearby jungle. During search, they recovered 68 bottles (100ml each) of Phensydil (cough syrup) from the PO and the same is kept at Bholaganj POP for further necessary action.
ATM door vandalised
On November 30, miscreants broke the glass door of an ATM booth located at Mission Compound, Mawkhar, Shillong.
Two held for stealing
On December 1, around 4.15 am, one Daniel Lyngdoh (19) was apprehended from Grand Hotel Point, Shillong, in possession of one plastic gunny bag containing 14 bottles of oil, 16 packets of Silk Cut cigarettes and Rs 575 in cash. It is reported that he stole the articles from the shop of B Mylliemngap at Wahingdoh Block-I, Shillong. Meanwhile, in another case, one Aditya Kharsyntiew was apprehended from Basa Doh, Iewduh, On November 30, reportedly for stealing a bag of stationery items from the godown of Fabian Thyrniang at Basa Doh, Iewduh. Matter is under inquiry.
Caught red-handed
Pabitro Wahlang lodged a complaint that on November 30, around 1.30 pm, one Sanoy Pathaw (18) was caught red-handed while he was stealing a bundle of cigarettes from the bus (ML-06-8647) which was parked at Jirang Bus Stand, Iewduh.
Theft bid
On November 29, an unidentified person came in a Maruti van (ML-05N-1715) and attempted to steal diesel oil from JCB hydraulic crane and trucks at Mawlyngngad village under Sohryngkham Outpost in East Khasi Hills. When he was detected by the locals of Mawlyngngad village, he escaped. Later, local residents broke the windshield of the Maruti van of the accused.
Pickpocket
Anubha Das of Jail Road, Shillong, lodged a complaint that on November 28, around 4 pm, miscreants stole her mobile phone and a watch from her pocket.
Smartphone stolen
Babul Chanda lodged a complaint that on November 27, around 6.30 pm, miscreants stole his smartphone at Police Bazar, Shillong.
