SHILLONG, Dec 8: Advocate General, Amit Kumar, informed the Meghalaya High Court that the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET) will be held in March-April 2021.
Various contractual teachers, appointed as assistant teachers in the government elementary schools in the state, had earlier filed writ petitions praying for regularisation of their services, which was dismissed by the High Court.
However, another writ petition was filed by another section of contractual teachers, accusing the Meghalaya Government of flouting the NCTE guidelines by not holding teacher eligibility test, and urged the High Court to direct the state government to immediately conduct the examination.
The High Court inquired from the advocate general as to why were these opportunities denied, to which he submitted that the next MTET will be conducted in March-April 2021.
