Water supply
Owing to the breakdown of the 750mm dia C.I. Gravity Main of Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme at Laitjem village on Tuesday, there will be no water supply in Shillong Municipal Board areas, Shillong Cantonment Board areas, Nongthymmai and Mawlai till the evening of December 10. Informing this, the Executive Engineer (PHE) GSWS Division No-II, Mawphlang, has said that efforts are on to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Holidays
The Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration (A) Department has informed that all government offices and Revenue and Magisterial Courts in the state will remain closed on December 28, 29 and 31 and will be treated as compensatory holidays. However, in compensation, all such offices and courts will function on March 13, 20 and 27.

PDS quota
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has informed that rice under NFSA (AAY and PHH) and non-NFSA for December and wholemeal atta for the month of November have been released through the respective fair price shops. According to a statement, the scale of issue of rice is 35 kg per card at Rs. 3 per kg for AAY quota, 5 kg per head at Rs. 3 per kg for PHH and 7.215 kg per household at Rs 12.70 to Rs 13 per kg for non-NFSA. Wholemeal atta, on the other hand, will be distributed at the scale of 5 kg per card in urban areas and 3 kg per card in rural areas at Rs 10.50 per kg.

Awareness
The Community Outreach Program Committee of Sankardev College held an awareness programme on Tuesday at Jaiaw Laitdom Community Hall on the theme ‘Social Media and the Digital World: Its Relevance and Impact’. During the programme, pros and cons of as well as dos and don’ts of social media and issue of cyber crimes were discussed.
