TURA, Dec 10: The Meghalaya High Court has exculpated Baghmara BDO, Saintfield Ch Sangma, of corruption charges levelled by a supplier.
The supplier, who had filed the charges in the court, now stands liable for prosecution for falsely implicating a government servant during discharge of his duties.
On Tuesday, the High Court disposed of a petition filed by the aggrieved BDO against the Meghalaya Lokayukta and four others after the counsel for the Lokayukta said that the BDO has been exonerated under the impugned order over the allegations of corruption and there was nothing adverse against the petitioner in the impugned order as on today.
The BDO, in his petition moved by advocate R Gurung, had mentioned that he had been absolved of the corruption charges during a probe ordered by the Meghalaya Lokayukta which directed the state chief secretary to constitute a high-level committee to probe into the nepotism, malpractice and mismanagement. (Contd on P-9)
