Ambedkar statue vandalised
Ballia (UP), Dec 15: A statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution, was found damaged at a village here, police said on Tuesday. They said the statue was installed in Lohta Pachdaura village under Bhimpura police station, and it was damaged on Monday night by “antisocial” elements. Bhimpura Police Station SHO Shiv Milan said the villagers informed the police about the incident on Tuesday morning.
Circle Officer K P Singh said the situation is under control, and the police have initiated action in the matter. (PTI)
Kingpin of cocaine trade caught
Bengaluru, Dec 15: The Nigerian kingpin of illegal cocaine trade in the city, who was called ‘chief’, finally fell into the police dragnet. “The main kingpin in cocaine supply in Bengaluru has been arrested by CCB. He is called chief. His real name is Chidiebere Ambrose,” the Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said on Tuesday.
All the Nigerian drug peddlers were in touch with him to purchase cocaine from him.
“In all previous drug cases, we found that all the Nigerian drug peddlers bought cocaine from a person named chief. After detailed investigation, this chief has been arrested,” the official said in a statement. (PTI)
Farmer finds Rs 60 lakh diamond
Panna, Dec 15: A farmer from Madhya Pradesh has become a millionaire after finding a 14.98 carat diamond which has fetched Rs 60.60 lakh at an auction, officials said on Tuesday.
Overall, 74 diamonds of total 129.83 carats were sold during the three-day auction conducted by the diamond office, which comes under the district administration, here last week, they said.
The auction turned out to be a jackpot for farmer Lakhan Yadav (45), who found the 14.98 carat diamond last month in a mine in Panna district’s Krishna Kalyanpur area. The gem was sold for Rs 60.60 lakh at the auction, an official from the diamond office said. Panna, located in the backward region of Bundelkhand, is famous for its diamond mines. (PTI)
