SHILLONG, Dec 17: Phulabri MLA, SG Esmatur Mominin, has proposed upgrading Daddengrge Sub-Division into a full-fledged district.
Stating that Daddengrge is one of the oldest sub-divisions of Meghalaya, he said, “I am in touch with different organisations who are demanding upgrade of the sub-division to a district”.
The legislator, however, asserted that it is not possible for Meghalaya Government to directly allot a district for the plains of Garo Hills. He said that there are some norms for upgrading a sub-division to a district. “If we directly demand a plain-belt district, it may not be possible at this point of time,” Mominin said.
The MLA also maintained that in plain-belt, Demdema Block should also be upgraded to a sub-division. “Once this block is upgraded to a sub-division, then we can demand for a district,” he said.
