Vehicles in EJH to carry 20 MT on Umiam Bridge

JOWAI, Dec 17: The District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills has conveyed to all truck drivers and transporters in the district that goods vehicles plying on the Umiam Bridge have been restricted to carry a maximum of 20 metric tonne of weight.
It was further informed that the Transport department is authorised to keep a tab on restricting vehicles from carrying weight beyond the limit of 20 MT.
Moreover, the District Magistrate of East Jaintia Hills, in an order under Section 144 CrPC, has allowed vehicles from East Jaintia Hills and plying through Dwar Ksud Umroi Bridge, Shillong Bypass, to carry 10 MT of gross vehicle weight.
In addition, two axle six-wheeler trucks should limit the weight to 19 MT while three axle 10-wheeler trucks are to carry 20 MT.
