Villagers educated on schemes
SHILLONG, Dec 23: An awareness programme to mark the occasion of National Farmers’ Day was organised at Bakdil Training Center at Asimgre village, West Garo Hills. According to a statement, during the programme, which was supported by SBI Foundation, locals were informed about different agriculture-related banking schemes. “Due to official holiday and upcoming Christmas festival, the programme was organised two days earlier,” the statement said. During the programme, discussions on ways to avail maximum benefit out of different schemes were held.
DC notice on fare overcharging
TURA, Dec 23: In view of the overcharging of transportation fare, especially in rural areas, the West Garo Hills District Magistrate has directed the District Transport Officer, Tura, to ensure that all public transport operators charge fare from the general public as per the notified rate issued by Transport department.
