Four PMAY-U awards for Meghalya

SHILLONG, Jan 8: The Centre recently awarded the ‘Best House Construction’ awards to 88 beneficiaries from all over the country, which included three such awards for Meghalaya.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) awardees from the state included Hamida Kharmawlong of Mairang, Marsha Wahlangsyllei of Nongstoin and Lucybon Syngkli of Nongpoh.
Secretary of Housing and Urban Affairs, Durga Shanker Mishra, presented the awards during the PMAY-U award function held at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongstoin, and at the Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Nongpoh.
The award function began with the laying of foundation stone at six locations for the Light House Projects by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at 11:00 AM on 1st January, 2021 which was followed by the felicitation of Best Performing States.
Moreover, ‘Nagar Panchayats’ from eight different states were selected for the ‘Best Performing Nagar Panchayat’ award which included the Nongpoh Town Committee.
The award was presented by Minister of S (I/C) Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri.
